After his last encounter in the forests of Orachd, Tulio had decided to head into the mountains of the land to avoid anymore unwanted run-ins with humans. Besides, he needed time to decide what action he wanted to take in trying to acquire a new ship and crew. The port wouldn't be a good place to go back to after the gambling incident so he needed to find a new location. The question was, where? Tulio mulled over this as he walked along the rocky trail of the mountain. He wasn't thinking of where he was going until he suddenly recognized the trail he was on. It led to a place he hadn't been in a long time. An old temple stood in front of him, even older than he was. Tulio merely stood and looked at it, tempted to just turn and leave and not deal with the meeting that would occur if he continued.

Chase Young returned from his long walk with the special herbs he needed for a soup of his. This time, he promised himself that he would plant those herbs in his garden and not have to go great lengths to get them again. But he never expected to see someone he hadn't seen since...who knows how long. "It's quite a surprise to see 'the Fox' again," Chase said aloud to get Tulio's attention.

Tulio had just decided to turn around and head back down the mountain when he heard a calm voice behind him. Tulio quietly cursed as he tensed. He knew that voice well, even if he'd not heard it in over a century. Slowly, he turned towards the voice and saw a young man with dark hair and deep brown eyes holding a variety of herbs and looking at him. He tried to pull his face into a smile, but it felt more like a grimace. "Chase Young, fancy running into you here. I thought you would be living with the other fairies down in the woods. Then again, you always did like your privacy."

"And you the Sea," Chase agreed. "And yet, here you are far from it. Do I dare ask why, or can I no doubt guess?" Chase began to walk up to the temple, but stopped long enough to signal Tulio to follow. "If you want to, you can stay here until you have a ship. This temple is a sanctuary to all, even the wanted."

"So, you know all about my little "adventures", huh?" Tulio said with a hint of annoyance before following Chase towards the temple. "Well, the other fairies were bound to find out eventually. After all, how many of the "fair folk" take to an exciting way of living?" Tulio was less than happy with the kind of lifestyle other fairies found proper. That was one of the reasons he had become a pirate in the first place. "So, any of the others know yet or just you?"

"I haven't see the Old Ones or any of our brethren in almost a thousand years," Chase stated. "I honestly have no idea if they know of your 'adventures' or not," Chase replied, looking forward as he continued to walk. "I found out about some of your adventures during the days that I deemed the port to be a safe place. But then, the world changes from time to time, and war has brought my visits to Orachd and the Land of Shadows to an all time low." Chase then looked at Tulio. "But I am willing to hear your side of these stories. Solitude brings me away from hearing tales of adventure and danger, and even I enjoy those types of tales from time to time."

Tulio frowned at Chase's back for a moment before giving a small smile. While Tulio had never been close to any of his fellow "brethren", it was at least good to know that Chase wasn't judging him for his lifestyle choices. Most fairies would have been aghast at Tulio choosing to live like a human thief of the sea, but Chase clearly wasn't like the others. With a smirk, Tulio walked up next to Chase's side. "I'm willing to tell you of my journeys, but I expect compensation for my services. What will you give me in return?"

Chase chuckled. He did see that coming, but he was still struck by small surprise by the question. "I'm already letting you live here until you have what you need and you will no doubt eat what I make," Chase stated. "What else could I give you in return?" By now, the two of them had reached the gardens. Chase began to use some of the magic he had practiced from one of the Old Ones and began planting seeds from the herbs.

Tulio watched Chase begin to plant the seeds from his herbs as he spoke. "Oh don't worry, I'm not interested in asking for any gold or jewels from you. No, what I want is knowledge." Tulio went over to a large rock in the garden and sat on it. "It's been a while since I set foot on land after all, and I seem to have missed a fair amount during that time. So what's the word on this war being fought?" Tulio suddenly also became very serious. He leaned forward on his seat and looked at Chase with intense eyes. "I know magic when I see it, so I know first hand that I lost my ship and crew to a storm created by magic. I want to find out who caused it and have a little payback for the trouble it's caused me." In truth, Tulio was furious over the destruction of his ship and the death of his crew. The men who had served with him had been good friends and great adventurers. He wanted to avenge their lives against whomever had caused their loss. "You know more than anyone else I'd be willing to talk to, so enlighten me and I'll tell you something of my life since we last met."

Chase had just finished planting the herbs when he heard Tulio mention a storm created by magic. Interesting, he thought as he turned to him. He let Tulio finish speaking before he began to speak himself. "A storm made by magic," he repeated. "That might have been caused by a Weather Wizard named Raimundo. He was probably training for a fight with his half sister Kimiko, a Witch of the Cosmic Forces, due to a family feud. I found out about him since Kimiko is my current student. "As far as this war is concerned, it started when the old leader of the Land of Shadows was taken off the throne by the current ruler, Thrax. Thrax wanted to make the Land of Shadows popular, so he attacked Orachd, killing their Queen and King. Their son, Prince Rolfe, is the current ruler of Orachd. "As of right now, the Land of Shadows has Dragons, Demons, and dark sorcerers and witches. Orachd has a Genie, a Guardian, a Werewolf, and light sorcerers and witches. Three races are not involved with the fight so far: the Mermaids, the Elves, and the Fairies. Vampires are scattered throughout the factions. And that is what I can remember right now. "So," he finished. "What is this 'something' you speak of?"

Tulio listened to all Chase had to say attentively. So there was a war starting between Orachd and the Land of Shadows and the various members of the land were taking sides. And it sounded as if this young Raimundo was the likely source of the storm that had ruined his life. Tulio made sure to remember this piece of information before Chase asked of his own life. Tulio leaned further on the rock and thought for a moment. "Well, I can tell you this much, a life at sea is far more entertaining than living on land and just adding more years to the long lengths you already live. I have plenty of stories to tell you of my life, but I think my stomach needs attending to first." At these words, Tulio's stomach gave out a low growl. He hadn't eaten much since he left the seaside port where he had washed up on shore.

Chase heard Tulio's stomach and smiled. "It is a good thing that we are on time for lunch," he responded. "Is Hazel-Nut Soup to your liking? And would you mind it if my student joined us. I'm positive that she would love to get her mind off of the prophecy made by her clan and a rival clan and hear some of your tales."

"Sounds good to me." Tulio said as he rose to his feet and walked over to Chase. "But I might talk to her later about her........brother. If what you say is true, I have him to thank for my ship sinking. However, I'll wait until after the meal if it will make it easier for her." Tulio quickly popped his neck before heading towards the temple.

Chase lead him to the kitchen, but not in silence. Tulio might as well know a few things about Kimiko. He knows her better than the Fox, after all. "I don't know if you should bring him up with her," he stated. "It's a subject she does not like to bring up. Even if you talk about what happened to your ship, I believe that a conversation like that would lead to an awkward and unwanted situation." He began to create the soup while gesturing to the dining table. "Just food for thought."

Tulio followed Chase through the temple and into what must have been the kitchen. He remained completely silent as Chase prepared the meal and spoke of the harm speaking to the girl, Kimiko, might have. When he next spoke, it was in a calm and low voice. "Very well, if you think it best I will not speak to her about her brother. There are other ways to find out about this Raimundo. And even if I am an outlaw, I am not heartless. I will not cause the girl any more hurt than she has already faced."
(Should we invite Winxy to join this arc?)
