Witches/Wizards:
These are people who can do magic, but are human. Basic spells include control of the elements, control of darkness of light and darkness, healing, teleportation over short distances, control of inanimate objects, becoming an animagus (turning into an animal), being able to sense what animals and plants are feeling, vague visions of the future, and the making of potions. More advanced spells include the exorcism of demons if they're possessing someone, wiping someone's memory, mastering a second animal form, more specific seeing of the future, and spells that kill/torture people. Things they cannot do are make themselves immortal, summon demons/spirits, or bring someone back from the dead.
Vampires:
Vampires have paler skin than normal humans. They are stronger and faster as well. They require blood at least once a week, twice if they're a newborn. Sunlight cannot kill them, but it does weaken their power. They are immortal. The only way they can be killed is with a wooden stake through the heart or by burning them so they are reduced to ash.
Werewolves:
Werewolves can only turn into a wolf on the night of a full moon. They cannot turn into their wolf at will. They cannot recognize friend from foe. If they are able to get control of their wolf form, they pose less of a threat.
Mermaids:
Mermaids can breathe underwater and are able to communicate with sea animals. They can get legs if they walk on land, and get their fins back if they go back into the sea. They can live for centuries at a time. They can also control the water, which involves fighting with it and summoning storms.
Fairies:
Fairies can change their size, from thumb-sized to human-sized. They have the same magic range as witches/wizards, but have more power on their side, especially if they're old. They can have up to one animal form. They are immortal.
Elves:
Elves are human-sized. They are stronger and faster than normal humans. They are all capable of doing magic, but some choose to specialize in one type of magic only, or they specialize in hand-to-hand combat rather than spells. They are immortal.
Demons:
Demons come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They can shapeshift into two animal forms from birth. They have the same magic range as witches/wizards, but with more power, especially if they're old. They can also resurrect the dead and summon ghosts to their aid. The only way they can be killed is with a stab to the heart or by be-heading them.
