Megara ponders this new information before heading to a bookcase on the far side of the room "Hmmm now where was it AH there it is" she said before pilfering a rather large volume that was a deep crimson red with silver embossing "This book came into my possession after coming here mind I can't read it due to it not being a language I recognize but the man said it be helpful at some point" she said opening the volume "Would you like to take a gander at trying to read it if you can't read it it's fine just been trying to figure out what the language is as its been nagging at me for quite sometime"

Victor gently put his cup back down on the table before reaching out and taking the book in his bony grasp. He let the book fall open at random and peered at the written words. "....You say you can't read this writing?" Victor looked over the pages at her before dropping his gaze again. "How strange...." Although he knew the book must have been written in an old language, a language he should by all rights not be able to read, the letters appeared clear and concise to him, easy to understand and read. "What book is this?" he closed the novel and looked at its title. "The Passages of Death" Victor read out in his mild voice.

Megara blinked before gasping"Of course...noone alive can read Death's language as it is something no living person can fathom" she said having a pensive look on her face "If you have a piece of death on you that may explain the spirits being attracted to you and wanting to be around you this warrants looking into...my superior officer may have an idea as he's been around 1000 years before I was even conceived." she said sipping at her tea "I'm assuming you will want to read it at least to figure out WHY you can read it correct? if thats the case I will let you borrow it"

Victor stared at the book in his hands before putting it back down on the table and pushing it across to Megara. "Actually, no. I don't want to read it. I already know where my connection with death comes from. I don't need to know anymore about it." Victor said this all in a bitter voice as he crossed his arms and glared at the book.

Megara pursed her lips and shove it back at him as the shadows became like tendrils around her. "Listen Victor that book is the ONLY living copy of the Passages of the Dead if nothing else it may hold the key to helping you figure out how to properly control your powers." she said holding back a snarl "Wouldn't you ENJOY being able to walk around not looking like a skeleton? at least you can look semi-normal I can never look normal I will always be part of the shadows! Ostracized by my family disowned seen as a leper and the only one who would take me is THRAX himself!" she cried out as the lights the room suddenly went out completely.

Victor watched Megara's sudden explosion of anger with mild wonder. She was powerful, he had to admit it, but she lacked control and that made her weak. In most normal circumstances, he would have be frightened by this onslaught of demon power, but now it only made him feel cold and withdrawn from her. Old she might be, strong too, but she was still a living thing. "And what would be the point of walking around looking like a normal person when I am not one?" He cooly asked as the lights suddenly blew out. The darkness did nothing to impress him. "I choose to keep a human form because that part of me has not died yet, but I am not foolish enough to think I am human. As for the book, what point is there in reading about death when my father is death?" Victor had risen to his full height now. "I am sorry that you have been outcasted by your family and others, but at least you still belong to the world of the living."

Megara took a deep breath to reign in her emotions and her eyes took the emotionless tone they were before. "Victor don't you think its a bit odd death giving life? Aren't you even the itsy bit curious about HOW you in effect came about as a child of death that no small though while we demons can raise the dead their merely like zombies with no thoughts of their own...I personally would like to know wouldn't you?" she said softly biting her lip til it bled before the pain registered.

Victor frowned as he thought over what Megara had just said. While he did know about death, he couldn't fully understand why he was able to bring back life. And not just temporary life, but full life. He had been able to do it with his pet, yet couldn't do it with his poor bride to be. He looked across at the demon before him, unsure of what to do or say. After several moments pause, he spoke softly, like a whisper of wind. "I honestly don't know. Knowing the truth has already hurt me in so many ways, and yet....." He shot another look at the book. "Very well. I will look through the book if you will let me have it, but know this." He shot his dark eyeless stare at Megara. "It's secrets are for only the dead. I will not devulge anything to you or your "superior officer." You shouldn't even be in possession of that book in the first place."

Megara raised her hand "I swear on my magic and heritage as a demon nothing you find will escape my lips to anyone unless it is to prevent a premature death" she says as the wind whips around the room a bit "The man looked like he wanted to get rid of it he had a haunted look in his eyes...I felt a compulsion to take the book to be honest the book itself gives me the creeps" she said truthfully "Besides I have my secrets so does my superior I don't divulge everything to him besides i kinda like you definitely more interesting to talk to then my usual conversationalists."

Victor gave a small nod before picking up the book. However, he gave a slight startle when Megara mentioned how she liked him. It was strange to hear someone openly state that they liked him, especially given what he was. "And how many of those conversations end with the person dead?" But Victor couldn't help and give a toothy grin to the demon girl. Despite their less than smooth meeting, he did like Megara a bit too. He had been craving contact with a living thing that did not fear him for so long that he was willing to overlook her less unsavory qualities. At least, for the time being.

"mmmmm only about 2-3 but they were not acting like gentleman and decided to try and get me to bed them didn't work out to well for them" she said with a snort before sipping at her tea "You can have that book by the way now that i found an owner for it I see no reason to keep it besides at least you have a brain and are semi literate its hard to come by with my kind their either incredibly stupid or ignorant of how things actually work or try seducing as many people as possible and the few like me and Thrax who just want the idiots outta the gene pool so they stop making the rest of us look bad" she said with a laugh before taking her hair out of the high pony tail and letting her curls loose
"Much better that ponytail gives me a headache every once in awhile so Victor how did you end up in my neck of the woods anyways? its a pretty far walk to any significant villages that have indoor plumbing" she asks with a smirk.

If skellitons could blush, Victor would have been scarlet at the talk of men trying to get Meg into bed. He fumbled slightly with the book as he tried to collect himself. "It sounds like you and this Thrax are on the same page. I've never heard of him before, myself. As for how I ended up here, well, you don't really have to worry about bodily functions when you lack most of a body. Makes travel a bit easier."

Megara giggles "You know for a child of death you really are quite innocent at least in that degree" she said sitting up straight and continued drinking her tea. As she peered outside the window she growled slightly at something in the window as it flashed by "Victor stay here apparently I have to trigger my wards I hate stupid nosy busybodies who have no idea of personal space" she muttered angrily under her breath as she placed her hand on a foot tall pillar of clear quartz. It glowed red with runes and the air feels electrified with magic as if it was palpable in the air.

Victor watched Meg with mild interest as she proceeded to trigger some kind of magical ward. "Is everything alright?" He knew very little of magic itself and had no idea of what Meg was trying to ward against. Only that it was someone who appeared to annoy her greatly.

"Its a stupid idiot male who apparently suffered to may blows to head to understand that no means..." she went to rant as a banging hit on the door as Megara groaned "Pray I don't slice his head off"
As Megara opened the door she ducked to avoid a unwanted "I've told you one no a MILLION times you idiotic boor of a man NO MEANS NO if you can't take the hint why don't you go drown in the river of Styx!" she yelled and slammed the door in his face.
He of course didn't care and waltzed in with a swagger "But my fair lady surely you cannot be serious I mean I have riches, good looks, great pedigree surely i must be a greater match then you could ever hope to get?"
Megara of course was seething and of course since he was human she couldn't very well blow her cover.
