Tulio stood on the edge of the dock and stared out at the tossing waves of the sea, the mist lightly wetting his face. How he missed the feel of a ship underfoot moved by the ocean. How he missed the salty breezes and the promise of adventure. But now, he was stuck on land, forced to keep a low profile for the time being. He could have easily joined another ship and taken to sea, but he was bound and determined to be Captain of any vessel he stepped on and the only calling the sea offered him was piracy. Since he had neither ship nor crew, Tulio would have to revert to a land life for the time being. The fairy was less than pleased. Tulio closed his eyes and inhaled one more breath of ocean breeze before turning towards the port and all it offered. With his fairy gifts and his cunning, he was sure to "relinquish" some gold coins from their owners. He would only need a bit to get him started on his journey inland. Once he had found a suitable place, Tulio took out his set of loaded dice and began his gambling. After a short time, he had a small pile of coins at his feet and more than a few upset sailors grumbling at him. "Ok, so who wants to test their luck next? Any takers?" He called out while rolling the dice between his hands.

Esmeralda, having left Megara in the dark alleyway, decided it be best to continue her exploration. Besides, wherever she could go to have a little fun without being bugged was all her game. Her travels had led her to the port. Good; someplace where Princey wouldn't bug her. And to avoid standing out, Esmeralda had purchased a new outfit from the coins she had "earned" from her last adventure. A white blouse, a long, blue skirt, and a few gold belts. A green ribbon that matched her eyes kept her curls back now. She flipped the new material, admiring how the dark cobalt rippled to the azure of the sea. A sound of grumbling resounded. Sailors surrounded a handsome blue-eyed, raven haired man raking in enough gold to sink a crate. Esmeralda smirked to herself as she picked up her set of dice from her hidden pouch. One set was loaded whenever she got herself caught in situations, the other was a normal pair she used in case of emergencies. She'd use both. "I'll take it!" She pushed through the crowds, holding her sack of gold outward like it was the Ten Commandments. "Luck was always one of my good points."

Tulio turned towards the answering voice and his smile widened when he saw a young woman with eyes the color of the sea and wild black hair approaching. He liked the look of this one and liked her even more so when she held out a large pouch of gold. With a foxy smile on his face, he stepped up to her and stroked his face as he looked her up and down. "Look here boys, a young flower of the sea thinks she can beat me when none of you could." The sailors standing around snickered at the idea of a woman playing and actually beating Tulio at dice. Tulio, however, didn't laugh but merely turned back towards his own pile of gold. "By your lead then, my lady. What's your call?" Tulio stood at the ready with his dice in hand and a large grin across his face.

Esmeralda's look darkened at their snickers. Underestimating her was common, but that didn't exactly mean she liked it. "And this flirt is drying up all his luck by trying to charm me," she fired back, shaking her dice. The sailors all clammered with "Ooohhhs" at Esmeralda's comeback. Some actually laughed at her statement. A few rigurous shakes,Esmeralda shook her first hnd of dice; the loaded ones. A five and a six faced the piate. 'Eleven," Esmeralda crossed her arms. "Beat that."

Tulio's grin merely widened at the woman's comment as he played the dice between his fingers. "Why my dear sea flower, the only thing I like to charm is the sea. She is a true jewel and a great force of fate. I call upon her luck to aid me in my endevours and I do believe her wind blows fair for me." Tulio held out the dice and let the sea breeze blow over them before tossing them forward. The dice rolled for a long moment before finally coming to rest. "Seven." Tulio said with a wide smirk and stepped forward. "I do believe the round goes to me, my sea flower."

'And how is seven higher than eleven?" Esmeralda glared up at him. The blue in his eyes couldn't rival that of the ocean. Well, there was that commonality. "Answer me that." She picked up her dice, tossing her money down angrilly. When she did, one coin hit one die, causing it to tumble...and then fall back onto the two. While Esmeralda was glaring at the gentleman, a few of the sailors noticed the die that refused to turn away from the two. They tested the other it only stayed on five. "I KNEW IT!" one of them shouted. "THAT MAN'S DICE ARE LOADED! GIVE THE GIRL HER MONEY BACK." Esmeralda blinked rapidly. Scammed by a con-man. Grimacing, she scooped up her share. "You played me with loaded dice?! Now what kind of man does that to a lady?"

(Sure. Genie can join the plot if he wants)
Tulio turned towards the crowd of now angry sailors. Great, now they knew he had conned them of their gold coins. And he would have gotten away clean if not for this girl. "What, those dice are loaded? I swear I had no idea!" Suddenly, Tulio's foot struck the pair of dice that belonged to the girl. They rolled across the stones before falling back on eleven. So the girl had loaded dice too, Tulio thought quickly. Suddenly, a sneaky grin played about his mouth. He knew just the way to turn this around. "Look its not my fault. I had no idea they were loaded. SHE's the one who sold them to me after all. Don't believe me? Just look at her own dice." He then kicked them towards the approaching sailors so that they landed on eleven again. The sailors looked at the dice before turning their glares towards the woman. "Thief! Liar! Should have expected as much from a gypsy!" Tulio, who had quickly swiped the coins into a bag and was about to leave, frowned at the girl. She was gypsy?

The Genie quickly ran to look at the scene. He could hear so much hustle and bustle that he knew that music was needed. Time to dig deep into my mind and pick the best music possible for what's about to happen, he decided, already splitting himself up to form a Mariachi Band in the background. He instantly began playing the Spanish Guitar to add to the tension while a trumpet player, a percussionist, and a violinist were all prepared to play when arguments arose between who he was able to distinguish were the two who had loaded dice.

"My goodness!" Esmeralda swooned dramatically. "You figured out my little trick! I blame my brother, Gitan!" Again, Esmeralda was improvising on the spot. "He always was a bad seed, loading the dice, stacking the aces. I must've grabbed his dice by mistake!" Picking her skirt aside, she sweeped a few stray coins. "But last I checked, didn't your charming prince say all prices on gypsies were to be left alone?" Give Princey some credit. If the sailors had some sobriety, they could remember that. But, naturally, this didn't exactly help the predjudices. She grimaced when music was played from out of nowhere. Really? Background music was needed NOW? "Perhaps, my good sir," Esmeralda muttered, "we can continue our little debate elsewhere?"

"You two aren't going anywhere!" One of the larger sailors came forward with three other beefy men. "Let's see what the port officials make of your story!" He and one other man went straight for Tulio as the others headed towards the girl. Tulio could hear someone playing what sounded like music as he backed away quickly. "Forgive me gentlemen, but I have a prior engagement I have to keep, so......." With that, Tulio grabbed a dagger from his side and threw it at the two men to distract them. He could have used his fairy powers of course, but the last thing he wanted was for the sailors to realize that he was Captain Tulio. They'd have his head for sure then. They both dove to the side to avoid the blade, which sank into a crate. As soon as the blade had left his hand, Tulio took off into the port, quickly followed by the enraged sailors. "This is why I prefer the sea." He said to himself as he quickly jumped up onto a crate and leaped up onto a nearby roof. He ran along its edge and towards the end of town. If he could reach the edge of the port, he could easily hide within the depths of the nearby forest.

Oh boy. The minute that sailor and his croonies walked in, Esmeralda knew here would be trouble. But it looked like her rival, a fellow scammer, was one step ahead of her. All annoyances towards him wore off as he distracted the men, only to be pursued by the angry soliders. Now, Esmeralda thoght, to help the man or let him suffer? Meh, might as well help him. He'd take the high road, she'd take th low. Esmeralda found some backstreets along the area, following from behind.

Tulio went from roof to roof of the portside homes and shops but the sailors followed from below. He would have to get these sailors off his tail if he was going to make it to the forest. He saw his opportunity when a loading crane appeared to his right, lifting a large crate of goods into the air. With a smile, Tulio took out another dagger and cut the rope line, causing the crates to go crashing to the ground and blocking the street. Outraged cries and curses told Tulio that his trick had worked. With a laugh, he jumped another roof and quickly descended to the ground, where he took off towards the forest. Just as he was about to enter, Tulio shot a regretful look back towards the sea before entering the trees. Once he felt he was at a safe enough distance, he stopped and caught his breath. "Well, I might have lost my edge at the port, but at least I got you." He said as he took out his winnings from the gambling.

Talk about a guy who knew the streets like her. Esmeralda was impressed. That crane jump was a stunt she never would pull. Timing wasn't exactly her strong suit. And, of course, he headed off into the forest. Really? Back into the woods? Just once, Esmeralda thought, I'd like to be somewhere where no one tries to eat you. The port showed, however, she probably wasn't very welcome there anymore, even if the prince took the bounty off of her head, he didn't take off the prejudice people had. Esmeralda slithered from her lurking in between two houses, blinking as she witnessed the pirate walk into the trees. Do I follow him? Esmeralda thought. Confronting him about the money was pointless, and he played pretty much the same cards she did. At least they spoke the same language.

Tulio smiled down at the gold in the pouch he held. He tied the top again and tossed the bag in his hand for a moment, judging the weight. "Hmmm, not a bad haul considering." Tulio tied the bag to his belt and looked up the pathway that ran through the trees. He put a hand to his chin and debated if he should continue in his human from or take on his animal form. A fox wouldn't be out of place in a forest, but still, he wasn't sure it would be a good idea.
