Kayley was sure that the forest probably wasn't the safest place to be. After all, mystical creatures were pretty powerful compared to humans, with their magic and charismatic way of speaking and sharp claws and teeth. But, truth be told, Kayley was fascinated with the place more than the ordinary towns with humans. These were the creatures that had graced her storybooks as a child, and who wouldn't want to see those in person? True, she probably should have gotten a better weapon than a latex sword, but she felt very attached to it after LARPing with it for so many years. So, she made her way through the woods as usual, trying to keep on the lookout for anything interesting or dangerous.

Jim was perched high up in the branches of a tree, his back lying against the hard bark as he stared up at the sky. He'd grown tired of spending so much time with his dragon relations. They were downright annoying and a pain in his ass at the best of times. So he'd ditched Astrid and decided to head out to the forest on his own. His solar-surfer had seen that he got their quickly without anyone following. Even if he was a flightless dragon, he still had the spirit that when with flying. He watched the sky overhead as the clouds passed by and the sun shone down. Slowly, his eyes began to close and he fell into a light sleep.

Esmeralda pulled at her skirt from the wooden fingers gripping at the lavender cloth. Fucking trees. This was NOT her typical environment. She had been walking on dirt so long, she had adjusted to dirt getting sandwiched in between her toes. Her black hair was a mess from getting it caught in various branches. Under her bangled scarf, which she knew was making more noise than she would've liked, Esmeralda carried her magic shop goodies. Would they help here? Maybe.

Kayley felt the back of her neck prickle a bit and realized that she wasn't entirely alone. She slowly turned in a circle for a moment, but didn't see anything. It took her a moment to look up, and see the young boy in the trees above her. Whether he was actually asleep or pretending to sleep, she wasn't sure. But he seemed about her age, which she found comforting. She wasn't sure if he was a LARPer like her or an actual citizen of this land, but she knew that she wasn't going to find out unless she asked. But before she could, she heard something akin to the sound of bells clanking against each other nearby. "Hello?" she called, wondering if the mystery person was friend or foe.

Jim's eyes sprang open as he heard the sound of clanking bells close by and a voice calling out. He quickly rose to a defensive position on the branch and looked down, his eyes flashing crimson as he assessed the danger. A young girl stood on the ground. She had a brown ponytail and what looked like a false sword. Jim pressed against the truck of the tree and into the shadows, not wanting to be spotted but to observe this girl. He saw no threat in her, but perhaps she could entertain him. He gave a small smirk as he heard the approaching sounds of another person.

Crap. Bells were a dead giveaway she was near. Esmeralda should've never worn her belt. Angrilly, she pulled hte belt off. She wound some of the unembellished cloth over the bells to stifle them a big before tying it back around her waist. Now she moved with...a bit more silence. The young girl called out and wielded...a latex sword. Really? THAT was her weapon of choice? Rolling her eyes, Esmeralda pulled the dagger she wore on her leg before stepping out casually. "I guess my cover was blown," she said in a steeled tone, "but just because you're from Earth doesn't mean I'm about to go buddy-buddy on you, hon."

Kayley momentarily forgot the boy in the tree for a moment when the young woman who approached her seemed a bit...defensive, for lack of a better word. The dagger in her hand seemed to be real, unlike her own weapon. Kayley, this is what you get for not listening to people's advice and being reckless instead of cautious, she thought to herself. Maybe she could make it up by talking her way out of this situation, because at this rate, it would plummet downhill really fast. "Oh, we don't have to be, you know, buddy-buddies, if you don't want to," she said, holding up her hands. "But...the way you speak, you sound like you're from...well, not around here?" That was the best way she could put it. She hadn't yet met anyone from that fateful LARPing session that had transported her here. Maybe that would finally change?

Jim crouched lower on the tree while still remaining in shadow. He watched as another girl appeared, this one dark-complected. The newcomer seemed to intimidate the other one. Maybe this would be more entertaining than he had previously thought. He gave a low snicker of laughter. He wouldn't mind watching a good fight between the two. At least it would distract him from his own problems.

Esmeralda lowered her dagger. The girl had some wit and sensibility; good. Her auburn ponytail flipped casually, unlike Esmeralda's black curls. "Let;s just say the cliched 'I-have-a-feeling-we're-not-in-Kansas-anymore' kind of applies. I take it you have your foot in the same boat, considering you were looking around like a deer in the headlights."

"Oh, yes, yes, exactly!" Kayley exclaimed excitedly. Finally, she had found someone else who was from the real word and had gotten sucked here. "God, I thought I was the only one who ended up here. Do you know if there are anymore? Are we the only ones? Have you met any of the citizens of this kingdom? I feel like they give me funny looks sometimes." She paused for a moment, realizing that she was talking too much, and too fast. "Sorry, got a bit...overexcited there," she said sheepishly. "Um, I'm Kayley." She offered her hand to shake.

Jim looked down at the two girls with disappointment. It looked like they weren't going to fight each other. Jim was just considering if he should leave when he listened to the one girl with a ponytail, Kayley she said was her name. He pushed away from the shadows so that the two could easily see him before calling out. "What do you mean, citizens of this kingdom? I think the better question is what the hell are you two doing here." He smirked down at them from his position up in the tree. "So what are you? Orachd or Land of Shadows?"

Esmeralds sheathed her dagger. The corners of her lips twitched amusedly. Enthusiasm was typical for someone to find a kindred spirit. "No worries. And in answer to all your questions, I just weaseled my way through the allies and wound up in this tree-infested wildland." She crossed her arms but took one hand slowly to shake Kayley's. "Esmeralda," the gypsy-LARPer said firmly.
The acquaintanceship was cut short by a newcomer. Upon instinct, Esmeralda reached her her dagger again, pointing it at the new arrival. Her emerald colored eyes narrowed at his comments. "That's none of your concern, punk. Consider us neutral considering we have no clue where the hell we are."

Crap. In all her eagerness to meet Esmeralda, Kayley had forgotten all about the boy in the tree she had spotted earlier. No doubt he had heard every single word they had said, which Kayley didn't consider a good thing. Who knew how welcoming people were here to foreigners, for lack of a better word. "Um, yeah, what she said, sort of," she replied, pointing in Esmeralda's direction. "We're not from around here, so to speak. We're just trying to find our way around. Do you live here?" She wondered if this boy lived in the forest all by himself. The idea sounded exciting to her, even though it was probably a lonely existence.

The smirk just grew across Jim's face and he gave a laugh at the darker girl, Esmerelda. "Wow, I'm so frightened. Nice dagger, by the way." Jim quickly stepped off the branch and landed on a lower one before jumping to another tree so that he could get a closer look at these two. He frowned at the one girl's question. "So, foreigners huh? Well, I live whereever I want, but I suggest you two turn around and go back where you came from. This isn't any place for lost tourists."

Growling, Esmeralda clenched one fist. Did she draw the dagger again? Well, no. Obviously that wasn't enough. Which really sucked because Esmeralda had an attachment to her dagger. Instead, she sufficed by glowering at the newcomer. And boy was he rubbing her the wrong way. Disrespect her and she'd disrespect someone back. "Tourists my ass! And if we could go back the way we came, we could. You've been spying us long enough; I guess that piece of information didn't go to your brain."
