Jim gave Esmeralda a nod before turning towards Kayley. "Yeah, I'll change back once I'm a bit less.....irritated. As you've probably guessed, I don't control my temper very well." Jim looked at Esmeralda for a moment longer before looking back at Kayley. "I don't like the idea of leaving Esmeralda behind, so I tell you what. I'll fly us to the edge of the forest." That said, Jim dropped the surfer from his arm and gently tapped a button on the surface of it with his foot. Immediately, the craft sprang a mast to steer by and Jim stepped lightly up on it. "Hope you aren't afraid of heights."

Esmeralda scowled. There was really no option to say no, was there? And the last thing she wanted to do was flare Jim's tempe to the point where changing back would be awfully impossble for him. "Okay, okay," she held up her hands, her tone on edge. "I'll fly with Jim. And for the record, I'm not afraid of heights; in fact, I have no clue what I'm afraid of." It was true, Esmeralda had been steeled through her LARPing for so long, she had forgotten what she was truly afraid of. She blinked as the surfer rushed through the trees. Not sure of the time, Esmeralda pulled out her harmonica, playing idly.

"Really?" Kayley asked, her face lighting up with excitement. That definitely cheered her up. And Esmeralda even agreed to it. Jim pulled out some weird looking surf-board thing that had a sail on it. Kayley wondered if it flew through magic or just mechanics, but either way, it looked awesome to her. "Ooo, I love heights," she said, walking a whole circle around the surfer as she looked at every nook and cranny. "Is there enough room for all three of us?" she asked. The surfer did look a bit tiny.

"It'll be a tight squeeze, but yeah, there's enough room. We'll just have to fly a bit slower than normal, but I'll be able to get you and Esmeralda to the city in no time." Jim lowered the surfer to the ground in front of Esmeralda and Kayley. "So, who wants to go for a ride?"

Huffing, Esmeralda hiked up her skirt to get on. If there was room, then fine. She could handle a possible three minute human sandwich. She found her footing on the mechanical device. Hey, Jim had some cool sense of style. But obviously looks were deceiving, and Jim was right, because all three of them fit, if, not a bit snug, on the board.

Kayley gave an excited squeal as she hopped on, even though Esmeralda seemed a bit less enthusiastic than she was. But flying was enough to excite Kayley in this case. It wasn't every day that a normal person got to do it, after all. "Alright, let's go!" she said happily, bouncing up and down.

Jim made sure both girls were safely on the surfer before gripping the steering mast. He then turned to them with a smile. "Hold on tight." With that, Jim and the two took off into the air and sailed over the land at a fast rate. Jim closed his eyes and let the wind run over his body. He loved flying more than anything else. It made him feel completely free from all the stress and anger of his life. However, after too short a time, the trees had thinned out and now an open space of countryside loomed before them as he stopped the surfer and landed next to the last trees. In the distance, the rising shape of a large city could be seen. "That's the capital city. You should be able to reach it in no time on this road." Jim jumped down from the surfer and held out a clawed hand to help the others down.

Esmeralda held onto her headband tightly. One rogue wind would send it flying and give away her location. NOT what she wanted. Out of instinct, Esmeralda found herself clinging to Jim's waist. Inside she was cheering like a ten year old on a roller coaster, but outside she was simply grinning. Flying felt nothing like this. It was like being on an incredibly fast horse...being driven by a headless horseman. The twinkling lights from the city made Esmeralda feel at ease. Now that was more to her liking. She hesitated at Jim's hand; not because of the claws, but because se had never been offered to be helped down like a lady. Her hands shaking, she took it. His hand felt...warm. Almost comfortingly warm. Esmeralda felt her cheeks flare slightly before she covered it up with a clearing of her throat. "Thanks," she muttered, hoping no one saw her cheeks change color.

Kayley was a bit louder than Esmeralda, who simply grinned throughout the whole flight. Kayley whopped and hollered several times like a little kid riding a merry-go-round for the first time. No doubt she probably gave Jim and Esmeralda headaches, but she was having too much fun to notice. Too soon though, the ride was over and they had reached the city. "Wow, that was so cool. Thanks!" she said as Jim helped her and Esmeralda off the surfer. "We should totally hang out again sometime. You can show off your surfer, Esmeralda can do some more card tricks, and...well, maybe I'll have a real weapon next time instead of this old thing," she said, waving around her latex sword.

Jim's smile slowly disappeared and was replaced by a frown as Kayley spoke. He turned his gaze towards the lights of the city and his scale-covered hand clenched while his tail twitched in irritation. "Sorry, Kayley. But I don't think that's likely to happen. My kind aren't welcome in the Royal City. If someone even guessed at the blood I carry in my veins...." Jim fell into silence before giving his head a small shake and turning back towards the two. "Know this though, if either of you two ever run into trouble and I'm near by, I will help you. You can count on that." Jim didn't know why he made this problem, but he liked Esmeralda and Kayley. Even if they were humans and weren't from this world, they treated him like a person, maybe even like a friend.

Esmeralda was about to say something during Kayley's freakout, but her conscience told her to just let the girl sya what she well pleased. After all, Jim had said he was no longer welcome in the city. Hanging out in the forest with someone who knew it better than her did sound pretty fun. "We can at least peek in here, right?" She hoped Jim would acknowledge that. There was something about Jim she liked. Was it his broodiness? His ability to shift emotions. Esmeralda thought overanalyzing would just be unwise. "Thanks, Jim. Glad to know I have two people here I can trust."

Oh, right. Kayley kept forgetting that dragons weren't looked upon very nicely in this kingdom. Well, it's nothing that a little journey to the forest won't solve, she thought. She was sure she would go in there again, to see if she could spot anymore fantastical creatures. But not until she got a better weapon, at least. She had no idea how she would get one, but she was determined to do so before she went exploring again. Waving around a latex sword probably wasn't going to get her much respect. "Right," she said, nodding. She was glad that she and Esmeralda could count on Jim if there was trouble. It looked like there were some perks from being friends with a dragon. "Guess we should get going?" she asked Esmeralda.

Jim gave a nod to each of them in turn before mounting his surfer. He quickly adjusted the mast and gears to take him back towards the Land of Shadows. Just as he was about to kick start the surfer, her turned towards the two girls. "Listen, just stay away from a place called the Land Of Shadows. Don't want to have to rescue you two from Thrax." He stepped on the button on the floor of the surfer before smirking at the two. "See yah!" With that, Jim took off back into the air and over the forest towards the distant land that belonged to the Land of Shadows.

"Yeah. That latex sword isn't going to magically become a blade of diamond," Esmeralda joked. She looked back at Jim with an expression that said pretty much everything Kayley said; Thanks for the help, nice to meet you, and I hope we meet again. She waved after Jim as he took off, sad to see him go but grateful she had a reasonable ally. "I take it this Thrax character isn't buddy buddy with anyone," Esmeralda dusted her skirt. She knew she could avoid Thrax, but venturing to the Land of Shadows spelled danger. What was the point of being stuck in the pretty spots?

"Big no-no to Land of Shadows and Thrax. Got it." Kayley made a mental note for that as Jim flew away. She hoped that place wasn't nearby. It sounded kind of creepy, and Kayley wasn't up for anything like that. She preferred astonishing creatures instead of the scary ones. But, in a land of fantasy stuff, she figured that the good and bad both had to exist, to some degree at least. "Well, guess we should head in?" she said to Esmeralda.
